Leighton Barnard

Trails Guide | Camp Manager

Leighton was a student on the first ever Mentorship Trail run by Lowveld Trails Co.. He loved it so much that he kept coming back, revelling in the sense of freedom he found while out on Trail. After spending a few years in other parts of the tourism industry, guiding out of lodges, and running volunteer research groups, he listened to his calling and found his way back to Lowveld Trails Co. as a Trails Guide and Camp Manager. With >2500 walking hours under his belt, and achievement of a Tracker Level 3 qualification through CyberTracker, Leighton’s passion for Trails and Wilderness has only increased since he began his Trails Guiding career five years ago.

Leighton’s solid, sturdy build and self-assured bearing inspires confidence, while his good nature and constant smile puts people at ease socially. He is calm and confident and has an infectious enthusiasm for life that makes him a popular guide.
